The Tarpon Fish
The biggest, strongest, most spectacular and frustrating game fish to ever swim in our waters. The Tarpon is a feisty foe whose powerful leaps and busts of speed test the skill and fortitude of even the most experienced opponent!
Important Facts about Tarpon ...
Tarpon are very hard to catch because they have a hard, bony mouth making them difficult to hook. (Emphasis on HARD TO CATCH!)
Tarpon are renowned for their stubborn and spectacular fight, and they can leap 10 feet in the air. (Think BUTTERFLY!)
In addition to its gills, the Tarpon has an air bladder that allows it to surface, gulp air, and swim into hostile waters where little to no oxygen exists. (Very helpful during our AWAY meets!)
Tarpon average 150 pounds and 6 feet in length. It can get as big as 280 pounds and 8 feet in length!! (We grow 'em BIG in Loudon County!)
Lastly, Tarpon have survived over 100 million years because of their size and speed. (What survival chance will our less than 19 year-old opponents have against the TELLICO VILLAGE TARPONS?!?!)
