Tellico Village Swim Team

Our Team

Originally established in 1994, the Tellico Village Swim Team is proud to be the gathering place for kids of all ages and swimming abilities. Children and teens from the Village, surrounding communities, and even neighboring states come to learn about competitive swimming, improve their skills, and grow as healthy individuals with our team.
USA Swimming notes that, as a sport, swimming enables young swimmers to learn the importance of self-improvement, cultivates a positive mental attitude and self esteem, and establishes a grounded sense of empathy for others.

Summer Swimming

The Tellico Village Swimming Tarpons begin training late May/early June and complete their season by the end of July. Our team workouts are developmentally tailored to each swimmer, with the team practicing 1 hour each day during the week at either the Chota Recreational Center or the Wellness Center.

All children and teens are welcomed to join our team, as the only requirement is to be able to swim 25 yards (1 length of the pool). We host swim meets in Tellico Village, as well as travel to our competitors' pools. Typically, we have 4-5 swim meets during the season, culminating in our final competition at the City Meet, hosted by the Greater Knoxville Area Interclub Swimming Association (GKAISA).

If you are interested in being a Tellico Village Swimming Tarpon, we want to hear from you! Because we keep our team relatively small, we are able to individually cater to our swimmers. If you are a Tarpon, you can expect to develop deep bonds with summer friends, showcase your commitment to personal goal attainment, and join other youthful spirits who strive to be a part of something bigger than any one individual accomplishment.

Later this Spring, we will host our annual Team Orientation meeting at Chota Recreational Center. If you would like to learn more about our team and the fun you can have with us, please reserve a seat for this meeting NOW! Our team roster fills up quickly, and we would love to ensure that you have a spot on it!
